Short Story Writing Competition

by Teach For Lebanon - Feb 10,2022
We are thrilled to announce the winners of the Storyvoice "Everyone Has a Story" writing competition! Both 1st place winners had their stories read on the Storyvoice application, and all the participants received certificates.

In the grade level 7-9 category, the 1st place winner is Vanig Malijian, a student at Sahagian College. Titled “Respect”, Vanig’s story revolves around the dangers of bullying and how standing up for yourself, knowing your worth, and taking the right actions can change the people around you for the better. The runners-up are Jana Al Kabbani from Al Haydariya School and Milana Chaddad from Don Bosco School.

In the grade level 3-6 category, the 1st place winner is Sobhi Sabbagh, also a student from one of our TFL partner Schools, New Educational School, with his innovative story titled "Layla and the wolf" featuring a twist on the traditional Red Riding Hood story. The runners-up were Assinate Mcheik from Don Bosco School and Bana Abi Hana from Garden City School.

This competition has been a huge success as we were impressed with the large number of applications received. Despite the difficult socio-economic conditions, this initiative turned out to be a great escape for our students where they unleashed their imagination and freely expressed themselves.
Thank you to our school partners for supporting this writing competition! And thank you to DPDHL for sponsoring this initiative by providing gifts to everyone that participated in this competition.
