A Glimpse Into a TFL Professional Development Session

by Teach For Lebanon - Nov 28,2022

As part of their Fellowship journey, Fellows from Cohorts 13 and 14 took part in a Professional Development (PD) session on November 19, 2022, where they learned about professional tools they may employ in the future. The PD was held at the Lebanese American University, Beirut Campus, and consisted of three sessions: From Teachers to Teachers, Sexual Education and Gender-Based Violence Projects, and Alumni Info Session.

In the first session given by TFL alumnus Hasan Ghaddar, the Fellows were taken through a journey of how to introduce and implement sexual education in their schools. Hasan highlighted his own experience and offered Fellows training on best practices. In addition, Fellows who were engaged in the GBV projects, sponsored by DHL, introduced their projects in the presence of DHL representatives.

In the second session, delivered by Sara Kassab, the Fellows were introduced to Open Educational Resources (OERs) and micro-credentials, which are tools that can help them develop their teaching skills. These tools are free online resources designed and updated by teachers in Lebanon and other countries. The Fellows learned how to leverage these tools for their professional development and offer support to non-TFL teachers.

In the third and final session, Cohort 13 Fellows learned about their future roles as part of the alumni community and discovered more about the scholarship opportunities offered by TFL after they complete their 2-year Fellowship. The session was facilitated by TFL's Alumni Coordinator, Ms. Roudaina Boushaheen.

TFL will continue to support its Fellows throughout their journey with important and up-to-date topics.
