Manal Jaber, Teach For Lebanon Fellow and PhD student at the Beirut Arab University, took part in the Hult Prize Lebanon, a competition held between University students to design an idea for a social enterprise in order to tackle one of the UN Sustainable goals. Part of this year’s challenge: "Harnessing the Power of Energy to transform the lives of 10 million people", she designed a prototype with her students and was qualified among the top 6 teams that will compete in the Beirut Digital District business accelerator.
Manal’s project “Bright Steps” is an idea for a social enterprise that uses the energy generated by man activity to harness electricity, through the use of steps with electromagnetic induction. The goal is to revolutionize the energy sources in the education sector in Lebanon and provide schools with self-energy sufficiency.
The event held on May 12 among all Lebanese universities, sponsored by BLOM BANK.
